Paddington, Charing Cross, Victoria, Waterloo, Liverpool Street are the main railway stations in different parts of London. 14. The Tower of London is a museum and the place where the crown jewels are kept. 15. Tower Bridge is a movable bridge across the river Thames in London. 16. The British Museum has many priceless collections of sculptures, drawings, coins and medals. 17. Kew Gardens contains plants from all over the world. 18. Scotland Yard is the name of the police headquarters and the police itself. 19. Heathrow is an important international airport to the west of London.

1. If you stand in Trafalgar Square with your back to Nelson's Column, you will see a wide horizontal front in a classical style. 2. It is the National Gallery. 3. It has been in this building since 1838. 4. It was built as the National Gallery to house the collection of Old Masters Paintings (38 paintings) offered to the nation by an English private collector, Sir George Beamount. 5. Today the picture galleries of the National Gallery of Art exhibit works of all the European schools of painting which existed between the 13th and 19th centuries. 6. In 1897 the Tate Gallery was opened to house the more modern British paintings. 7. Most of the National Gallery collection of British paintings was transferred to the Tate. 8. Thus, the Tate Gallery exhibits a number of interesting collections of British and foreign modern painting and also modern sculpture.

9. Запомните следующие застывшие словосочетания и предложения с инфинитивом. Составьте с ними ситуацию.

This type of rocket is supposed to have many advantages. 23. For a longtime the atom was thought to be indivisible. 24. The helium atom was found to have two electrons. 25.
