Text B. Dmitry Vinokurov

Avant-garde, creative and in great demand, Dmitry Vinokurov is one of the top artists on the Russian scene, with experience on the international stylist stage as well. Born in Moscow in 1971, after finishing secondary school Dmitry entered the sewing department of the Third Moscow Industrial and Pedagogical College. Then he was trained as a tailor with fashion designer Slava Zaitsev. During fashion shows, however, he developed a keen interest in becoming a hairstylist. And, by styling models for Zaitsev's collections, he developed a taste for the catwalk.

Dmitry joined the Wella team in 1998, and in just one year, received Russia's most prestigious “Ovation” award as both the best stylist and best international artist of the year. The following year, Wella invited the young stylist to HairWorld 2000 in Berlin, for which he created a new show “East meets West,” serving as not only the hair and makeup designer, but also the designer of the clothes. His performance was remembered as one of the most remarkable in the program, and it was the beginning of Dmitry's first world tour.

In 2001, Dmitry Vinokurov showed his new collection “Unfinished Geometry” at the Wella Color Congress, presenting as a top Wella international guest artist. Wella Color Congress 2002 was opened by a unique Vinokurov collection called “Bering Strait”. In May 2004, Dmitry introduced his newest collection, “Under the lamp post,” which is inspired by German films of the Second World War and by fashion trends of that time.

His last presentation in the U.S. at the Intercoiffure Atelier in New York City in November 2011, was a spectacular presentation of the latest trends in hair and fashion hitting the streets of Moscow. Today, Vinokurov operates two salons in Moscow, and also runs his own training center for stylists.

As a college leaver Dmitry takes part in all the events organized by college and is always ready to help teachers and students sharing the information about the last trends and techniques in fashion.
