A journey in which you visit some places for pleasure is a tour (package tour). Tours are organized by tour operators. They deal with transportation, accommodation, catering, cultural programs, and so on. That means that they work with transportation companies, hotels, restaurants, museums, theatres, and many other organizations.

The tour operator advertises and sells tours to travel agents or direct to the public. Tour operators work for tourism companies.

Tour operators sell tours to travel agents who sell them direct to the public. Tour operators pay 5 to 10% of the tour cost to travel agencies. Travel agents can also sell services such as transportation, insurance, booking hotel rooms and theatre tickets, organizing sightseeing tours and so on.

Tourism companies are run by tourism managers. They plan and control their work, hire the staff, think of new tours and advertisement and do other kinds of work. Large companies can have several tourism managers who run the work of the departments. Then the head of the company is the general manager.

Tour groups have tour guides who accompany them during their travelling. They are the people to whom tourists turn for help if they have a problem. Tour guides take care of all the tourists and organize their days.

Tour guides speak the language of their groups very well and can tell the tourists a lot about the place they are visiting.

Animators are people who amuse tourists. They organize different games, contests or the whole parties for tourists at hotels, resorts, leisure centres or on cruise ships. A lot of animators are freelancers. They are people who have a part time job or only work in high season.
