Our family is not very large. I have a father, a mother, a brother and a sister. We all live together in a new flat in one of the industrial districts of Minsk.

My father Igor Ivanovich is 45 years old. He is a tall and well-built man with short black hair and grey eyes. He works at a big automobile plant as an engineer. He likes his work and spends most of his time there. By character my father is a quiet man, while my mother is energetic and talkative. Her name is Olga Petrovna. She is intelligent, patient and always ready to help. I’ve got good relations with my mum. She is always interested in what I do, and I can always ask her for advice. I love her very much though I love my father not less.

My sister’s name is Alla. She has blue eyes and lovely fair hair. She is a very good-looking girl. Alla is three years younger than me. She is a pupil of the 9^th form. She does well at school and gets only good and excellent marks. Alla has a good sense of humour and is very popular with her friends at parties.

My name is Tanya. I’m 17 years old. I resemble my mother in appearance but take after my father in nature. People say I’m an easy-going person. I have many friends. They come to my place very often.

VI. Перепишите и письменно переведите на русский язык следующий текст:

We have a flat in a new block of flats. It is a nine-storeyed building in Gorky Street. In front of our building there is a little park. Children from our block like to spend their time there.

Our flat is on the fifth floor. It is very comfortable and well planned. We have all the modern conveniences, such as central heating, electricity, gas, cold and hot running water and a telephone. There is a lift in our building.

There are three rooms in the flat: a living room and two bedrooms. There is a kitchen, a bathroom, a hall and a balcony.

The largest room in our flat is the living room and we use it as a dining room and a sitting room. In the middle of the room there is a big table and six chairs round it. Opposite the window there is a wall unit with lots of books, a TV-set and a video cassette recorder. There are two comfortable armchairs and a small coffee table in the right-hand corner. There is also a sofa and an electric fire in our living room. The floor is covered with a thick carpet. The curtains on the windows match the colour of the wallpaper. The room looks cosy. We like it best of all, because in the evenings we gather there to have tea, watch TV, talk and rest.

Our kitchen is large and light. It is very well equipped. We’ve got a refrigerator, a freezer, a microwave oven, a coffee maker and a toaster. We haven’t got a dishwasher yet because it is very expensive. But I’m sure we shall buy it in the near future. Usually we have our meals in the kitchen. When we have a party we lay the big table in the living room.

The bathroom is next to the kitchen. We have cold and hot water in the tap. The hall is rather small. There is room only enough for a hallstand. There is a mirror on the wall next to it. The telephone is on its little shelf beside the mirror. We like our flat and make it look tidy and cosy.
