Law plays a significant role in the successful operation of business and society. Laws regulate social behavior, which leads to a society that runs efficiently. Laws also supply ethical standards and expectations, while providing rules of conduct, measures to enforce those rules, and a means for settling disputes. There are different categories of law, each with its own priorities. But by and large, law is there to maintain the status quo, to protect property, vested rights, and established relationships. Law is the skeleton of our society, it controls what we do, when we do it and how we do it. If we choose to break this law then we are punished. An ordered society cannot exist without some sort of legal system, even if it is just one simple rule.

A system of rules is needed in society to regulate relationships between people with conflicting interests, for example, employers and employees, landlord and tenants and neighbors. A legal system is the only procedure which can ensure that human rights are respected.

Without laws our society would not be able to function effectively. Rape, murder and theft would become everyday occurrences which means that children would grow up only knowing this and to them it would be deemed normal, which is not what we want for our future generations, this is why law is so important to society, to ensure the safety of future generations.

Teaching the course "Basics of Law" is intended to educate students in a particular field of knowledge, to lay the foundation for the initial legal culture of the younger generation of citizens, and to give the basic knowledge (instill skills) for subsequent orientation in the legal relations accompanying citizen life, regardless of their chosen occupation.

Academic discipline (a subject) "Basics of Law" examines issues of major branches of law (constitutional, administrative, civil, labor, criminal, etc.), which, on the one hand, give us an overview of the role of these or other legal norms, and on the other - represent the necessary knowledge in order to navigate in solving problems that accompany each person throughout his life. Learning the basics of law allows competently assess every vital situation.

This study guide "Basics of Law" is designed for students of higher and secondary specialized educational institutions non-legal profile. It was not intended to bind the training material to a particular specialty. But in the process of teaching this discipline in a particular school teachers, obviously, find opportunities for relevant illustrations to refer to professional practice, and then the organic compound will generally valid legal knowledge with the knowledge that graduates will require a specialized institution.

The purpose of discipline “Basics of law”: to give basic knowledge of law; to develop a positive attitude towards the law; to recognize the need to respect the rule of law and provide full, training students in the conditions of a functioning rule of law; to form the personal qualities: morality, common cultural skills, and the ability to social adaptation, implementation of creative potential, commitment, responsibility, citizenship and tolerance.

Learning objectives: obtaining systematic knowledge about the laws on human rights; be guided in the inner life and international events; study of the main legal acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Outcomes Study: Student should know:

Cognitive component (knowledge)

- Main fields of law;

- Stages of formation and development of the state, the development of the legal system;

- The development and establishment of rule of law.

Operational component (skills)

- Explanation of the essence of socio-legal phenomena through analogies and parallels;

- Understanding of the basic categorical apparatus of jurisprudence;

- Ownership methodology independent work with sources of law;

- Analysis, scientific reasoning legal information, they create an objective assessment;

- Logical thinking, the ability to discuss, the protection of their own ideological positions and the application of legal knowledge in the life;

- Knowledge of differences in legal institutions, ensuring their standards.

Communication skills:

- Form analysis skills requisite knowledge of the leading industries of national law;

- Understanding the place and role of the state and law in society;

- Acquaintance with the problems and prospects of development of the legal system of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

- Disclosure of political and legal ways of state-legal regulating mechanism in Kazakhstan;

- Clarification of the acquired skills necessary for the implementation of subjective legal duties.

Self-education of the student:

- Build knowledge about the development of Kazakh patriotism;

- The formation of legal outlook;

- Improving the social and individual consciousness and legal culture, acting as the necessary conditions for improving the legal state in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
