We use the Present Perfect for an action in the past with a result now. Example: I’ve lostmy passport (= I can’t find my passport now)   We use the the Present Perfect when we talk about a time from the past until now - for example, your life:   Example: Have you beento France? (in your life) I’ve beento Canada butI haven’t beento the United States.
