Exercise 3. Translate with the help of dictionary the following combinations of verb + preposition:

Exercise 4. Translate the following sentences into Russian, paying attention on the verbs in Passive:

1. The date of the summit was finally agreed upon. 2. After a long and heated discussion the compromise was arrived at. 3. Part-time work is resorted to in Britain to provide women with jobs. 4. His article is referred to in all recent publications. 5. In this hospital the patients are well looked after. 6. Newtaxation laws were widely commented on in press. 7. Our arguments were listened to withgreat attention. 8. Several changes in the factory management were brought about

by important economic factors. 9. The proposal to raise taxes has not been approved of by the Parliament. 10. When they tried to put forward their proposal they were only laughed at.
