Safety glass for ground transport

STEMALITE

Stemalite is a flat glass, coated on one side with enamel and thermally treated to strengthen the glass and to secure the paint to it surface. Stemalite is suitable for facing the fronts of the public and industrial buildings, lining of rooms to impart high-grade architectural and artistic design. The area of stemalite sheets depends on the sheet thickness and amounts 0.6-1.7 m 2. Stemalite is produced of the window and plate polished glass. The stemalite sheets are of a rectangular shape. The difference in the length of the diagonals does not exceed 5 mm. The stemalite surface is flat. The sheet edges are dulled or cut out. Stemalite is painted with low-melting enamel paints of different colours upon agreement with the customer. The paint is applied in a uniform layer by spraying over the entire sheet surface and fused during thermal treatment. When broken, the stemalite fragments do not exceed 50 cm2 in area and 10 cm in maximum dimensions.

HARDENED GLASS FOR SHIP’S PORT HOLES

The flat hardened glass is designed for port-holes or surface ships of all types. These articles are produced, worked and heat-treated of polished glass with wide intervals in length, width and thickness. The glass articles are of a regular shape. The glass is of a uniform thickness. The glass articles have polished ends and dulled edges. The glass features high mechanical strength and withstands without failure the test by the uniformly distributed static pressure and the test by the stamp method. The ultimate pressure is 2.5 times higher than the maximum permissible pressure in service, which fully meets the requirements of the effective standards. The hardened glass for the ship’s port holes meets the world standards with respect to its technical level.

Production of the flat hardened safety glass (stalinite) is based on special thermal treatment, consisting in hardening the sheet glass by heating it in hardening the sheet glass by heating it in electrical furnace up to the softening temperature with the subsequent abrupt cooling with cold air at a definite pressure in the blowing grate. Set up in the hardened glass are uniformly distributed stresses which impart enhances mechanical strength and thermal stability. When broken, the stalinite is disintegrated into small-size fragments with dull edges which cannot be responsible for wound, bruise or cut.

Stalinite is employed for glazing the ground transport vehicles, tractors, agricultural and hoisting machinery used in the national economy in all climatic zones of our country. Stalinite is made of colourless polished, non-polished and heat absorbing (tined) glass. Stalinite is available of the high and first and second grade class. The articles of the high and first grades are intended for application in ground transport. Stalinite has a uniform thickness. The difference in the thickness of articles of the first-and –second grade polished glass is not in excess of 0.3mm, while that of the non-polished one is 0.4 mm. when shattered by a pointed tool, the articles disintegrate into not less than 40 fragments in any square measuring 50×50 mm and not less than 160 fragments in a square of 100×100 mm. Stalinite meets the world standards with respect to its technical level and quality.
