The program will take place between 8 and 17 August, 2014, in the beautiful historical city of Sibiu, Romania. The application fee is 300 euro, including tuition, housing and meals. The application deadline is 14 July. After receiving your decision, you will be required to pay the application fee in maximum two weeks. Otherwise you will not be accepted further along in the program.

As you have seen from the broad presentation on our website, our selection process is as thorough as it is challenging, this being one of the reasons we are continuing to rise: the amazing value and talent of our participants. Bear in mind that we do not value a specific part more than others, as we appreciate the applications holistically.

Aside from your formal education background, a very important part of the application is the less formal one. From extracurricular initiatives to jobs you had or still do, we want to know you both as a professional and as a person. Describe relevant activities and how they have influenced you.

In this section we are interested in seeing your prowess in dealing with daily challenges and brain twisters that get to define successful professionals in such a tough industry as finance. Please use the elasticity of the form so as to motivate your answers.

1. De Morgan, a famous mathematician, when asked about his age said he had x years in the year x². De Morgan died in the year 1871, but in what year was he born?

2. Two planes fly over the Atlantic. One flies from New York towards Paris travelling at a speed of 750 km/h, the second flies from Paris towards New York travelling at a speed of 700 km/h (because of bad weather conditions). When they meet, which one will be closer to Paris?

3. There are 3 bags of gold. One of the bags contains fake gold. All the bags and all the coins look exactly alike. There is the same number of coins in each bag. The real gold coins weigh 1 ounce each, the fake coins weigh 1.1 oz. apiece. You have a one-pan scale and can make only one weight measurement. (You load the scale and the scale spits out a piece of paper with the weight) How can you tell which bag has the fake gold?

4. You have three jars containing fruit: one has kiwis, one has avocados, and one has kiwis and avocados. On each jar there is an inscription describing the contents: one has K (from kiwi), one has A (from avocado) and one has K+A (you get the idea). None of the inscriptions says the truth about the contents. How do you tell which jar has which fruit, considering you are allowed to pick only one piece of fruit from only one jar?

5. Say you’d have to play a game by taking turns to call integers. The first to call the number ‘50’ wins. The rules are:

· The one who starts must call an integer from 1 to 10, inclusive;

· The next player must call a number that exceeds the last one by at least one and by no more than 10. For example, if the first player calls 8, the range of valid numbers for the opponent is 9-18, inclusive;
