There are several traditional ways of looking for a job. The first is waiting passively for a suitable variant, communicating with your friends, using all possible connections. A more active means of looking for a job is studying the market of the offered vacancies. The best way of doing this is to use the help of employment agencies or to study the ads of job opportunities independently.

Announcements of job opportunities can be read in different printed publications, heard on the radio and TV. The structure of job opportunities ads is usually the same: the name of the vacant position, the list of the candidate’s professional duties, the demands to the candidate, and the system of compensations and benefits. The ad usually suggests sending the applicant’s resume by post or fax. In this way the company carries out preliminary selection on the basis if resumes.

The applicant should try to get information on the activity of the company and the prospects of its development. The main task is to understand if the position offered corresponds to the level of your education, skills and experience in work. It is necessary to read carefully the duties and demands made of the given position. There can be demands like “willingness to travel” – as a rule, this means frequent business trips. Another important demand is the ability to work on a personal computer. There are also some special demands like knowledge of western book-keeping standards of knowledge of foreign language.

If the applicant’s resume was selected, he is invited for the interview. To have a perfect interview the applicant should dress formally, use the proper body language and think positively and confidently about him.

So, to get a job now it is not only important to be educated, have a number of skills, know how to sell oneself and know one’s price, but it is also important to have professional qualification, real business experience, interpersonal skills, the ability to work with documentation and equipment and the ability to build good relations both with superiors and subordinates.
