Complex sentences.

A complex sentence contains one independent clause and one (or more) dependent clauses. There are three kinds of dependent clauses:adverb, adjective and noun.

A dependent adverb clause begins with an adverbial subordinator such as when, because, while, if, although, so that, etc. e.g.:The students are studying because they have a test tomorrow. A dependent adjective clause begins with a relative pronoun such as who, whom, which, whose or that, or with the relative adverb such as where and when e.g.: The woman who called my mom sells cosmetics. A dependent noun clause functions as a noun and begins with wh -question word, that, whether, or if. e.g.: What Garry did shocked his friends.

e.g.: I finished watching the film, and then I went to bed.
