Present Indefinite (Simple Present) употребляется для выражения: (основные случаи употребления) 1. Обычного, постоянного, типичного действия или характерного признака, свойства подлежащего, а также для передачи общеизвестных фактов и простых истин, имеющих место в настоящем, но не привязанных к моменту речи. 2. Регулярно повторяющихся действий в настоящем. 3. Ряда последовательных действий в настоящем.

Дополнительные случаи употребления: 4. Для выражения действия, происходящего в момент речи: а) с глаголами, не употребляющимися в формах Continuous; б) когда желают лишь констатировать сам факт действия. 5. Для выражения будущего действия: а) запланированного расписанием, графиком; б) в придаточных предложениях условия и времени; в) в вопросах к ближайшему будущему.
