Our Institute.

Our Institute was founded in 1932. There are 6 faculties at our Institute: the faculty of methods of teaching in Junior School, the faculty of philology, geography and biology and others. I am a first year student of our Institute. The academic year has 2 terms: the autumn term and the spring term. Each term ends with examinations, which take place in January and June.

Students learn different subjects: special and social. All students learn some foreign language. I learn English. At our English classes we read, write and speak English, translate sentences from English into Russian, do many exercises, ask and answer questions.

I never miss classes and work regularly. I want to learn to speak English a little that's why I work hard.

7. Do you learn a foreign language?

8. What do you do at our English classes?

Задание III: Образуйте сравнительную и превосходную степень от

следующих прилагательных.

1. long, busy, bad, much, good;

2. beautiful, difficult, interesting, little.

Задание IV: Переведите следующие предложения на русский язык и

определите степень сравнения прилагательных и наречий.

1. Better late than never, but better never late.

2. East or West home is best.

3. It's better to see once than to hear twice.

4. Our Institute is the oldest in the Komi Republic.

5. There are more students at our faculty that at the faculty of geography and biology.

6. The terms in the academic year are not very long.

7. Summer holidays are longer than winter holidays.

8. This city is the oldest and one of the most beautiful ones in the country.

Задание V: Определите в каких предложениях глаголы to have, to be, to

do являются смысловыми (глаголом-связкой), модальными,

вспомогательными. Подчеркните глаголы и переведите

предложения на русский язык.

1. The classes are to begin at 9 o'clock.

2. There is a fine garden in front of the Institute.

3. He didn't make any mistakes.

4. I have to get up early on weekdays.

5. Did you have to get up early yesterday?

6. We had passed our examinations by the 20-th of June.

Задание VI: Перепишите предложения, подчеркните причастия I и II.

Определите их форму и функцию в предложении.

1. I saw a girl standing at the window.

2. The girl was standing at the window.

3. She answered my questions standing at the window.

4. This chair is broken.

5. A written letter is left on the table.

6. She has read all the books written by Dickens.

7. I don't use a dictionary reading an English book.

8. We must be careful when crossing the street.

Задание VII: Употребите глаголы, данные в скобках, в форме

Present Perfect.

1. I (speak) to him about it several times.

2. We (learn) many new words from the text "My Institute".

3. She (see) this film several times.

4. … (pass) the exam already.

5. She (return) my book at last.

Задание VIII: Употребите предложения из задания VII в вопросительной

и отрицательной формах.

Задание IX: Употребите глаголы в скобках в Past Perfect.

1. I was sure that she (pass) her exam.

2. I asked him why he (leave) the lecture.

3. It was clear that he (give) us the wrong answer.

4. The teacher corrected the exercise which I (do).

5. He knew that he (make) a bad mistake.

Задание X: Употребите глаголы, данные в скобках, в форме Future Perfect.

1. I am sure they (pass) their exams by the 20-th of June.

2. He (come) by 6 o'clock.

3. We (pass) our term paper by the end of the term.

4. By what time (be ready) the dinner?

Задание XI.

1) Образуйте существительные от следующих глаголов begin, write, speak, play, work, sit, come;

2) Образуйте прилагательные с отрицательным значением pleasant, able, true, happy, lucky;

3) Образуйте соответствующие наречия nice, slow, attentive, open, clear.

Переведите устно новообразования на русский язык.

Задание XII. Подчеркните в словах словообразовательные суффиксы и

приставки определите какой частью речи они являются:

Combination, doer, unusual, greatly, actor, consultation, rewrite, retell.
