Economist

An economist is a professional in the social science discipline of economics.

Economists work in many fields including academia, government and in the private sector, where they may also study data and statistics in order to spot trends in economic activity, economic confidence levels, and consumer attitudes. They get this information using advanced methods in statistical analysis, mathematics, computer programming, and they make recommendations about ways to improve the efficiency of a system or take advantage of trends.

To become a good specialist in economic matters and business one must know many sciences, such as business economics, finance and credits, statistics, history of economic theory and philosophy, mathematics, as well as economic management, trade business and, of course, marketing, which is a modern philosophy of business.

It is very important for a specialist in business matters to be a skilful user of computers and to speak at least one foreign language. It should be better English as it is the most popular language of the international business communication.

An economist is able to follow business developments in the world by listening to radio and TV news, by reading newspapers or magazines, or by getting in contact with his business partners abroad.

Altai State Agrarian University trains specialists in different fields: Management and Marketing; Commodity Research; State and Municipal Management; Accounting, Analysis and Audit; Finance and Credit.

Management in business activities is the direction of people to accomplish desired goals using available resources efficiently and effectively. Management comprises planning, organizing, staffing, leading or directing, and controlling an organization or effort for the purpose of accomplishing a goal.

The managers in the field of State and Municipal Management are able to project and apply state, regional and municipal control systems, develop optimal organizational structures of authorities, provide documentation processes, carry out research in these spheres and put them into practice.

Commodity experts are able to form an optimal goods choice, to decrease risks when the goods are purchased. They do not allow low-quality goods to penetrate the market, so they promote the financial stability and commercial success of the trade.

The bookkeeper is one of the most popular professions. A bookkeeper must know the accounting and tax legislation; civil law; ways and methods of analysis of enterprise activities. A specialist in the field of Finance and Credit must know the state and municipal finances, banking and insurance, money and financial management.
