International Red Cross (IRC)

The IRC, with over 100 million members worldwide, is the largest humanitarian aid organization on the Globe today.

The organization was founded in 1863 by the Swiss businessman H. Dunant as the International Committee of the Red Cross. Due to it Dunant was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1901.

The IRC is based in Geneva, the Netherlands. It is absolutely neutral and independent. The organization's emblem is the Red Cross on the white background. The IRC main mission is to protect the lives and dignity of numerous victims of different wars and conflicts, as well as to provide them any assistance.

From the very beginning the IRC has been doing its best to prevent human suffering by promoting and strengthening humanitarian laws and universal principles.

The Russian branch of the IRC was established 135 years ago. Nowadays its activities include responding to massive floods, fighting against various diseases spreading, as well as providing assistance to all people affected by different disasters and conflicts, reducing health risks and teaching first aid skills.

This organization well known in the world today was founded in 1990 in the USA. It is an independent organization actively working for protecting human rights and health, greatly contributing to the processes of peace consolidating and reconciliation.

Doctors of the World are doing their best to make health a human right. They are now working in more than 25 countries of the world.

The Doctors' main mission is to reduce mortality and morbidity, to bring health education and health care, to improve the maternal and child health services, to provide health care to unprotected migrant workers.

They are striving to provide the majority of the Earth population with medical assistance and create sustainable medical programs which can protect health, human rights and civil liberties both in the USA and worldwide.

The Army of Salvation got its name in 1865. It was founded in I ondon by the Methodist pastor William Booth and his wife.

At the beginning the organization was sponsored by the religious people only. It successfully attacked various social needs: poverty and hunger, abandonment and others. Its aim was to become a model of the modem social services.

The idea of showing the love of God through concrete actions hasmade this organization well known all over the world. With the years the Army of Salvation extended the fields of its activities which is conducted under the motto "Heart — to God, hand — to man".

Today the Army of Salvation has its offices in more than 90 Countries and millions of supporters all over the world. It trains the Staff and volunteers, renders different juridical consultations. But lis main mission is to give any assistance to the homeless, prisoners, alcoholics, drug addicts and all those who need it.
