Uncountable nouns often refer to:

substances: coal, food, ice, iron, rice, steel, water.

human qualities: courage, cruelty, honesty, patience.

feelings: anger, happiness, joy, pride, relief.

activities: aid, help, sleep, travel, work.

abstract ideas: beauty, death, freedom, bun, life, luck.

We want to spend more money on roads.

Workers carried so much equipment that they were barely able to move.

To ask a questions about quantity of uncountable nouns we use "How much...?"

How much luggage have you get?

How much money have you got?

Countable nouns have a plural form. To ask a question about quantity, we use How many …?

How many bags have you got?

How many appointments have you got today?
