If you count the number of outstanding features per square kilometer, Switzerland has no more rival in the world.

The capital of the country is Bern, a small very neatly kept town. The Swiss Rivera is typical of the Alpine scenery: snowy peaks, dark forests, glooming meadows, and disciplined rows of grape vines. A brief excursion into Geneva will usually be enough to see the fountain in the middle of the lake, the flower clock in the English Gardens on the embankment, mobile and watch museums. In Lausanne, you will find the Olympic Games Museum, and the Pipe and Tobacco Museum, which boasts exhibits from 50 countries. Montreux is famed for its gearly jazz festival, and for the Palace Hotel, so reminiscent of a castle, where the Russian writer Vladimir Nabokov spent the last 17 years of his life.

One of the loveliest tourist attractions in Switzerland is Lucerne. Its churches, streets and covered bridges dating from the Middle Ages are must-see destinations for every tourist. Everything is fine in moderation. Even a wonderful local chocolate becomes humdrum (=приедаться) after a while. But in a little while something indefinable will draw you back again to this fabled mountainous land where nothing is possible, just like in a fairy tale.
