Christmas comes but once a year.

We have a nice flat rather far from the centre of the town. It is in Oktyabrskaya street. As there are only five storeys in the building it has no lift. Our flat is on the fourth floor. It has all modern conveniences such as central heating, gas, electricity, cold and hot water.

There are four rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a hall in our flat. The living room is the largest and most comfortable room in the flat. In the middle of the room we have a square dinner table with six chairs round it. To the right of the table there is a wall – unit which has several sections: a sideboard, a wardrobe and some shelves. Between two large windows there is a little table with a TV set and DVD on it. Near the TV set there are two cosy armchairs. The walls of the living room are light – green. The bedroom is not as light as the living room as there is only one window in it.

The third room is the study. There is not much furniture in it, only the most necessary pieces. It has a writing – desk with a desk armchair before it. There are books on the shelves all round the walls. In the right hand corner there is a bookcase full of books. A small table with a radio and tape recorder are on it. Next to the table there is a sofa with some cushions. I have no computer in the study. It’s in the living room. I think the study is the best room in our flat.

The last two days of the week are Saturday and Sunday. They are called the weekend. People don’t go to work on weekends. But students and pupils have only one day off. It’s Sunday.

Weekend is my favourite time of the week because I don’t go to the college. On Sunday I wake up later than usual. Sometimes I stay in bed till nine or ten o’clock. As soon as I get up I air the room, do my bed and do morning exercises. Than I have breakfast and help my mother to wash dishes. I clean my room and do my homework then I’m free

существительными. Любое нарицательное существительное должно иметь перед собой артикль, если его нет, надо объяснить – почему.

Артикль не употребляется с существительными,

1) если перед ним стоит притяжательное местоимение (my – мой, your – твой his – его, her-

2) если перед ним стоит другое существительное в притяжательном падеже: the woman’s

heart, my friend’s likes, the old man’s memory etc.

3) если перед ним стоит указательное местоимение: this heart, that memory etc.

4) если перед ним стоит количественное числительное: two hearts, seven hills etc.

5) после ‘‘no”, но не ‘‘not”: I’ m a poor mouse. I have no house.
