Align the plain washer notch and master cylinder edge for assembly

Facing upward.

MASTER CYLINDER INSTALLATION

1. Install:

• Master cylinder Ø

2 • Master cylinder bracket Ø

10 Nm (1.0 m•kg)

CAUTION:

Align the end of the master cylinder with the punch mark on the handlebar, and then install the

4 master cylinder bracket Ø with the “UP” mark

2. Install:

• Plain washer Ø NEW

• Brake hose Ø

• Plain washer Ø NEW

• Union bolt

30 Nm (3.0 m•kg)

CAUTION:

3. Air bleed:

• Brake system

Refer to ‘AIR BLEEDING’ section in CHAPTER 3.

s WARNING

Use only designated quality brake fluid; otherwi- se, the rubber seals may deteriorate, causing lea- kage and poor brake performance.

Refill with the same type of brake fluid; mixing fluids may result in a harmful chemical reaction and lead to poor performance.

Be careful that water does not enter; the signifi- cantly lower boiling point of the fluid may result in vapour lock.

4. Inspect:

• Brake operation.
